A Bit of Almost Everything

By Rina Cruz

Enthusiastic. Talented. Witty. These are only some of the qualities which FMC’s System Support Staff, Ms. Bernadette “Berna” Peñaroyo, has.

“Bago ako nakarating sa scheduled interview ko sa Multi-Line, grabe ang pinagdaanan ko dahil sa bagyo sa lugar namin. Pinipigilan na ako ng mga kapatid ko pero gusto ko talaga maka-attend sa interview kaya tumuloy talaga ako,” Berna said.

Despite the storm signal in their province, Berna still opted to proceed with her scheduled application in Multi-Line sometime in August this year. When she entered Calderon Building, she knew that this was the company she had been looking for. Luckily, she was hired on the same day and joined the company a month after.

Berna is not only good in cracking codes in programming but she is into baking and cooking mouth-watering recipes. She started this hobby during the pandemic. She learned how to bake and cook by watching YouTube video tutorials and with the help of his father who was a former Chief Cook in a ship. She can make bread, cakes, cookies, cupcakes, pizzas and many more.

Berna also started playing ukulele in 2020. Now, she can play different songs such as One Day, Huling El Bimbo, Can’t Help Falling In Love, Ehu Girl, Love Story, Truly Madly Deeply, Torete, Tabi and other Pinoy music.

Aside from this, Berna is fond of mountain climbing. She tried this first on 2017 as influenced by her sister-in-law. “Ang sabi ng sister-in-law ko, iba ang feeling kapag nasa summit ka na kaya na-curious ako at nag-try na ako. Then naging sunud-sunod na ang pag-akyat ko sa bundok kasi masaya pala talaga sa feeling kapag nasa summit ka na.” She reached the summits of Mt. Daraitan, Mt. Mapalad, Mt. Alapaap, Mt. Pamitinan and Mt. Binacayan.

As of the moment, Berna is starting to learn basic designing through some web-based applications.

Berna is a proof that as a millennial, doing what your heart wants and learning a bit of almost everything will give you a sense of fulfilment in life.
