Andrea Ungco closes more than 44 million-peso government project

By Rina Cruz

Ms. Andrea Ungco, the newly promoted OIC Sales Supervisor of MBI, closes a government project amounting to P44,511,982.26 named North to South Commuter Railway Extension Project (NSCREP).

NSCREP is situated in Gil Puyat Avenue, Clark, Mabalacat City in Pampanga. MBI will be supplying and installing four systems on this project such as CCTV system, Audio Visual System, Access Control System and CATV system. This project will be directly supervised by Mr. Edwin Borromeo as its Project Engineer under the management of Engr. Remelia Firme, his Operations Manager.

Ms. Ungco has been working on this project since 2020 when she was still a Product Sales Consultant. According to her, closing this project has been a great challenge for her since it is pandemic and the Philippine government requires many documents from bidders.

There came a time when someone asked her, “Ma’am mananalo ba tayo dyan sa 44M kung yung 18M nga na may malaking discount natalo tayo?” But, instead of taking it negatively, she responded, “Mananalo tayo tiwala at dasal lang.”

On July 22, 2022, Ms. Ungco received a call from Ms. Gayly of Hilmarc’s saying, “Ma’am congrats awarded po sa inyo ang auxiliary system ng NSCREP.” She felt mixed emotions because all the efforts of each department who helped her finally paid off. She said that from processing of submittals and gathering of data which are needed for accreditation, a lot of personnel from different departments had helper namely, Project Implementation, Sales, Engineering, CMG as well as HR. She added that even the Company Driver contributed on the closing of this project for servicing her a lot of times from Clark, Pampanga to Manila City and vice versa. She is also thankful for the guidance and support given by his immediate head, Engr. Dino Maghirang.

When Ms. Ungco was asked if this is, by any chance, the biggest project she ever had as a sales personnel, she answered, “Yes. I’ve been in this profession for 13 years now (3 years of which is in MBI) and this is the biggest deal I ever negotiated. Actually, ang kapwa ko bidders ay from Yek Yeu Merchandising, Net Pacific Inc. and Beta Electromechanical Corporation.”

The construction of this project is expected to begin on the 4th week of August 2022 and will end sometime in September 2024.
