Role Player On and Off the Court

By Francis Kenneth Billones

“Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen.” – Michael Jordan

MBI’s Service Engineer, Mr. Alexander Michael “Alex” German, is a role player on and off the court. He is one of the skilled and hardworking Service Engineers in the department and currently handles preventive maintenance works of our clients in the areas of Taguig City. Despite his busy schedule, he finds time to play basketball with his friends and colleagues after work.

When asked about his basketball hobby and who influenced him, he said, “Nagstart (ako) maglaro around six years old, plastic na bola lang tapos may ring na maliit sa bintana. Ang nag-introduce sa akin sa basketball ay ang father ko, tapos nakikita (ko) yung mga pinsan (ko) na naglalaro hanggang sa nahilig na din (ako).”

Alex also shared that he was a member of basketball teams during school intramurals and barangay officiated leagues in their province wherein he played as the Point Guard of the team.

He said in the interview that what he likes most about playing basketball is that it relieves his stress and keeps his body active and fit. He added that he had made new friends by playing this sport.

His message to those who want to make basketball a hobby is not to be shy and just play and enjoy the game. No one starts out good right away, the important thing is that you are happy while you are playing.
